NaPoWriMo 2018 – Day One

Title: Surge and Swell

I walk the outer bands,
after criss-crossing the boardwalk;
I approach nervously,
anticipating for days
but frozen solid when the moment comes
and it’s time to burst.

I babble the talk, speculating wildly,
ticking off all the ways to map success.
On the approach, tip-toeing turns into
a careless jaunt, a startled shuffle;
no need to fear free falling:
in pure suspension I herd laconic realisations
of what I know can be.

In the eye of the storm, I learn to fly.

NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2017, Poetry

NaPoWriMo/ GloPoWriMo 2017 Day Twenty-Seven (and a medium note)

(This poem is an outright NaPoWriMo cheat in the sense that I have not written it this April. In fact, I wrote it in May 2016 for a submission to the wonderful Litmus Magazine on the subject of diagnostics. I am still so pleased that my other poem was chosen to be published in the issue. Whereas the other piece is more medical, I couldn’t shy away from the huge role diagnostics play in technical support. I have decided to post it as part of poetry month not just because I already failed the challenge, but because it would be nice to share, as I suspected it would never see the  light of day otherwise.)

(Total Loss of Service- Disconnected)

hadn’t quite realised
how many thoughts
pushed down
where the light gleams brightest
where the glass shards can kill you

the words so strong
the copper vibrated
with hatred

after that there was no more
no clipped speech, out of order cluster
just lost energy in tangles
incomplete circuits
these calls will never connect

pretending to ignore periferal woes
always want more: ask for, ask for
twice the dose, correct premise
there is a fault never to be found
for first time around all tests
are run remotely

predictions accumulated one by one
however textbook or boring acid always burns
aprotic nitrification, uninhibited and unsolved
a hole that grows, pulling in all essence

Oldies, Poetry

Data Consolidation (4. Another Slice)

More Oldies. Some of these go as far back as 2001.

I will say it out loud
because no one else can hear
the edgy words in the fountain
of my frothy mouth.

I’ll admit that I leaped;
moving targets never scared
the Mata-Hari of my sweaty Continue reading

Data Consolidation (Second Bite)

(continued from Data Consolidation (One Bite))

One way only. No ring-road
that will take me to the beginning
of the journey known as the
greatest waste of air. Breathing
mud, packed with lies and tapeworm
eggs settling exactly where the
lust resides. Continue reading

Data Consolidation (One Bite)

(and cross posting from Facebook CedeRed Page Notes)

Three bet using liberty of spirit
or all the residual hunger;
roaring of bellies only quietened by the chanting,
yearning for not more, not less, what’s fair,
considered inherent in faraway lands.
Unseen, unheard, tightly bound wrists; Continue reading
