NaPoWriMo/ GloPoWriMo 2017 Day Eight

Overpass

It was a kick in the teeth
a half bite of the tongue
and a trail of spitty blood.

It was the earthquake
that destroys foundations.
I’ve come to learn these
were built on their cheap,
at my cost.

Used my bricks and mortar
to create palaces for
patriarchs willing to threaten
with complaints and blades.

Nevermind, always nevermind;
but how can I not slaughter
the messenger
when his mouth dribbles
the remains of the wreckage
from illegal building work?
